Deciding on a moving company who you trust to get all your belongings from point A to point B can be hard. With dozens of different pricing structures, even getting a quote can be difficult! We make it as simple as possible for you at A-Zip Moving & Cartage, because we know that your residential move is already stressful enough.

Know What To Ask

One of the best ways to make sure you’re hiring the best company possible, is to know what to ask. If you’re asking the right questions, you won’t be surprised on move in day. You are going to be running around enough that day. Don’t add another stressor to your list! Read on to learn what you should be asking your moving company before you sign the cheque.

Start With Referrals

Ask around. Do you have any friends or acquaintances who have recently hired a mover? Were they happy with the moving company that they chose? Would they recommend them to you? By asking those individuals you trust, you can be confident that you aren’t being scammed. If you don’t know anyone in the area who has hired a moving company in your area, read as many online reviews of each company as possible. When online reviews are not available, ask the company itself for references from recent clients.

Do Your Homework

Before acquiring quotes from a dozen companies, do your homework. Is the company a member of The Better Business Bureau? How long have they been in business? Do they have a reputable website? Do they have a social media presence? You can learn a lot from a few minutes on a company’s website!

Request an Estimate

Don’t rely on an estimate from one single company. Request an estimate from at least three or four different companies. While an online quote is a great place to start for a ballpark figure, see ift they are willing to come to your home. Once there, be as specific as possible about what goes and what stays. Most moving companies (including A-Zip) charge by the volume of the contents being moved. So if that chesterfield of your grandmother’s isn’t actually making the move to your new home, make sure to say so! It will have a significant impact on your estimate.

Read The Fine Print

Find out exactly what is included in each estimate you receive. Will the moving company help you pack? Or are they simply showing up day of to load the van? What broken or damaged items do they insure against, if at all? Do the employees have criminal records, training, and insurance? Each of these factors will play a significant role should anything happen to your belongings.
