The mover will carefully note that actual condition of your possessions before loading the van and you will be asked to verify that certain items are “marred”, “scratched” or “chipped”.

On delivery, have the driver make specific notation on the inventory and delivery receipt in the event of any loss or damage which has occurred while the shipment was in possession of the mover. The promptly notify the carrier, IN WRITING, of the loss of damage. He will send you forms that must be filled out and returned. Unless the value of your possessions is declared and adequate protection requested or arranged, the carrier’s liability for loss or damage is limited to 60 cents per pound per article. You can, if you wish, take out extra protection through the mover. Either way, know exactly what coverage you are getting.
